I had the pleasure of attending the grand unveiling of ‘The Luminous Raya’ celebrations at Atria Shopping Gallery, a renowned mall nestled in Damansara Jaya, dating back to the mid-1980s. The event was a delightful fusion of Malaysian and Middle Eastern cultures, aiming to spread joy and illuminate the festive spirit among shoppers.

The festivities commenced with a vibrant media launch at the center court, where Mr. Seth Lim, the COO of Property Investment, led the event with warm opening remarks. The highlight was the ceremonial lighting of Middle Eastern lamps, symbolizing the official launch of the campaign. This was followed by captivating performances of Middle Eastern Arabic dance and instrumental music, setting the stage for an inclusive “buka puasa” session with underprivileged children from Rumah Suci Rohani.

Mr. Seth Lim emphasized the importance of inclusivity and community support, expressing gratitude to the participating tenants for their generous contributions towards the CSR activities. The children were treated to a range of enjoyable activities and gifts, ensuring they had a memorable experience.

As I stepped into Atria Shopping Gallery, I was greeted by the enchanting sight of contemporary Middle Eastern lamps adorning the center court, creating a picturesque backdrop for photo enthusiasts. The elegant courtyard, featuring a private lounge area and a majestic fountain, added to the ambiance of the event.

The theme of ‘The Luminous Raya’ truly came to life with a myriad of activities and offerings throughout the mall. From traditional musical performances to workshops on Malay kite-making, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Additionally, shoppers were spoilt for choice with a wide selection of booths offering essential items and delightful treats to enhance their Raya celebrations.

With its diverse range of restaurants and vibrant atmosphere, Atria Shopping Gallery provided the perfect setting for families to come together and celebrate the joyous occasion of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. FedEx Pioneers the Company’s First Cross-Border Electric Vehicle Delivery Trial from Malaysia to Singapore

In a groundbreaking move towards sustainability, FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and a leading global express transportation company, has embarked on its first-ever cross-border electric vehicle (EV) delivery trial from Malaysia to Singapore. This significant initiative is part of FedEx’s ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting eco-friendly logistics practices.

I am honoured to be invited to witness this meaningful moments that took place in Shah Alam. The journey, spanning 406 kilometers from a FedEx station in Shah Alam to a facility at Changi Airport in Singapore, was undertaken by a ‘Maxus eDeliver 7.’ The company estimates that this trial will result in a substantial reduction of approximately 100 kilograms of tailpipe CO₂ emissions compared to conventional diesel-powered vans.

FedEx sees this trial as a pivotal step in assessing the operational viability of future cross-border pickup and delivery operations using electric vehicles. The insights gained from this trial will play a crucial role in shaping the future of FedEx’s operations, contributing not only to environmental sustainability but also enhancing fleet efficiency and customer service.

FedEx will be using the Maxus eDeliver 7 as part of the company’s first cross-border electric vehicle delivery trial from Malaysia to Singapore.

Our efforts to reduce emissions throughout our business means we need to think strategically about all of our ground operations, not just last-mile delivery. This cross-border trial is a proof of concept that will help inform and advance our fleet electrification program in the region, in line with our customers’ desire for sustainable time-definite delivery.

The trial represents a major milestone in FedEx’s ambitious goal to transition its entire global pickup and delivery fleet to zero-emission electric vehicles by 2040, following a phased approach. Notably, in May 2023, FedEx introduced two electric vehicles to its fleet in Malaysia, specifically for parcel pick-up and delivery operations within the Klang Valley.

Making this cross-border attempt with a zero-tailpipe emissions vehicle goes beyond a logistical achievement, and represents a bold step in beginning to redefine industry standards.
