Headed to Bukit Mertajam for Sarah and Mahathir’s wedding ceremony… They are my best friends from JPPK YAB when I studied in UUM. No one ever predicted that they are actually destined together… I wish them all the very best in life and semoga bahagia sehingga ke anak cucu!

In the late afternoon, we went to the Museum and Art Gallery of Penang which is situated along Jalan Farquhar. To our surprise, Mein’s mother saw her grandmother’s photo in one part of the museum! Quickly took some photos with the ancestor.

It’s actually prohibited to take photos in the museum but you can never stop a blogger from snapping his way all day long! 🙂 There was a section where they displayed Kokeshi dolls from Japan. They were cute but I’m not sure why were they brought in and exhibited in this museum…

No photos please! 😛

It was quite a short visit at the museum and they were closing. They people there kept on repeating themselves reminding us that they were closing in 5-10 minutes… Chasing us away! Bad bad bad! Muey mal! (Spanish)

Then we drove all the way to Batu Ferringhi and managed to sight see for awhile… before being hit by heavy rain!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!! There were all sorts of water sports akin water ski, boat riding, banana boat and etc, but we were there not for these…

We had dinner at the food court in Padang Kota Lama and to our surprise, we found the best fried oyster and siput sedut ever which were cheap! So cheap that you would believe it…! Will definitely come back for more…

Day 1 @ Penang

Drove back to Penang on 1 May 2009. Chee Fah joined us and he stayed at Oriental Hotel. Since Chee Fah was here, we got the chance to become tour guides to him and brought him to a few places and had some local delicacies all around the island.

Our first stop, dimsum at Zim Sum Restaurant (the one opposite KDU Penang). It’s quite cheap for dimsum. We only paid about RM37 for 5 person! That’s incredibly cheap cheap cheap!!!

Ghee Hiang was our next station. It’s a place where I never miss to drop-by to grab some local delights as souvenirs to family and friends back in KL. If you happen to be here, don’t miss there "tau sar pneah", "beh teh saw" and sesame oil.

This was the "Lifting Buddha" Temple. There was this Buddha statue that people pray upon. Usually, people would ask for a favour from the Buddha. If the Buddha grant the devotee’s request, he/she would be able to lift up the statue. It’s quite amazing to see some people are able to lift it, while some really couldn’t no matter how hard they tried.

Then, we drove to Pulau Tikus and dropped by this Reclining Buddha Temple. Look at the beautiful architecture there. This is a Siamese Buddhist Temple.

Right opposite the Reclining Buddha Temple, was the Burmese Buddhist Temple. Not sure what are the differences but they are just two different temples which looked the same to me! Hahaha!

The last temple that we visited was "Kek Lok Si Temple" which is a major attraction among local and foreign tourists. It’s like a must-visit place for everyone who travel to Penang. Actually, to me, as I have already localised myself to Penang (by marrying Mein, a Penangite), I feel quite weird taking photos around these tourist places… However, I still took out my courage and snapped all along the way from the start til the end… Never miss a chance to take photos with my Nokia 3110 Classic! I didn’t know that the photos taken with it can reach satisfactory level! Loved it!

Dinner time, we had a bowl of assam laksa and laksa lemak at this stall which is located right at feet of the hill. Tasty! Especially the laksa lemak… yum yum! Missing it already…

A small cake-cutting ceremony at home for Mein’s father’s birthday-cum-Mother’s Day celebration… Cake from Bread History.

Pop quiz : How many temples did we visit in this one day?

Sumimasen,Love

Horror in Pameran Filem Seram 2009 @ FINAS

Just got back from Pameran Filem Seram 2009 in FINAS @ Jalan Pahang Kechil, a very small road leading into FINAS. This exhibition displayed a few types of "ghosts" featured in some local horror movies like ‘Congkak’, ‘Tohyol’, ‘Orang Minyak’, ‘Hantu Jepun’, ‘Chermin’ and etc. It’s theme really attracted myself. Furthermore, it is FREE! These "ghosts" were hidden in all corners around the gallery.

In this gallery, there is an archive where all local movies are kept. Photos of actors and actresses are kept and displayed here as well. The two-storey building is like a hidden treasure of the local movie industry. You can find various types of tools, utensils and machines used in film production. A gallery of awards won by veteran actors in numerous film festivals locally and internationally was displayed too.

There is also a mini theatre, where we watched ‘Susuk’. A staff there was kind enough to start the film specially for us and drinks were given to us too! Thanks to him!… We had a memorable experience there!
