I’m so excited to share my love for Turkish coffee as we celebrate ‘World Turkish Coffee Day’. The unique taste and traditional significance of Turkish coffee earned it a coveted spot on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2013, and since then, December 5th has been globally recognized as a day to celebrate this iconic beverage. This annual celebration holds significance for the Turkish community, and this year, I am honored to join in the festivities alongside the His Excellency (H.E) Emir Salim Yüksel, Ambassador of Türkiye to Malaysia, and other distinguished guests.

Discovering the Soul of Turkish Culture
My fascination with Turkish coffee began with its omnipresence in Türkiye. It’s not just a beverage; it’s a social ritual that brings people together. The anticipation of a warm cup is embedded in the very word for breakfast, “kahvaltı.” It’s more than just a drink; it’s a cultural heartbeat.

Brewing Magic in Every Cup
The magic of Turkish coffee lies in its unchanged brewing method, a tradition upheld for centuries. Discover the artistry behind the preparation, as finely ground coffee beans dance in a ‘Cevze,’ creating a frothy masterpiece. Unlike other coffee traditions, Turkish coffee is served with its grounds, accompanied by a glass of water, Turkish delight, or other sweet treats.

Türkiye’s diverse regions contribute unique flavors and variations to the Turkish coffee experience. From the Aegean’s mastic-infused delight to Gaziantep’s Menengiç Coffee boasting pistachio roots, explore the regional nuances that elevate Turkish coffee to a cultural celebration. Don’t miss the mild aroma of Dibek Coffee, crushed in a stone mortar, or the solid and bitter Mırra Coffee preferred in Türkiye’s southeast districts.

“Every Cup Carries 40 Years of Memories”
In Türkiye, a traditional proverb beautifully captures the essence of Turkish coffee’s significance – “Every cup of coffee carries 40 years of memories.” It means that Turkish coffee isn’t just about drinking; it’s like a time machine that takes you back to happy moments. How awesome is that?

Turkish Coffee Fortune Telling
At the event, we, the guests, had a fun time trying out Turkish coffee fortune telling. Everyone took turns looking at the patterns in their coffee cups and guessing what they might mean. It brought lots of laughs and made the event feel even more special. Some of us saw patterns of horse, mountains, mermaid, humans and many more. It was like a game that added extra joy to our time together. I really had fun and made new friends too.

I have always wanted to travel around Seremban, a town about 65km away from Kuala Lumpur. It takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from my place to Seremban city. In this blog post, I’ll take you through my recent two-night stay in Seremban, highlighting not only the charming town but also the hidden gems that make it a must-visit.

Discovering Seremban’s Hidden Gems
1️⃣ Lorong Seni Seremban
Kick off your Seremban adventure at Lorong Seni Seremban, a picturesque spot adorned with captivating murals. This vibrant lane is not only a feast for the eyes but also an Insta-worthy backdrop for memorable photos. Immerse yourself in the artistic charm that this hidden gem has to offer.

2️⃣ Muzium Negeri Sembilan
For history enthusiasts, Muzium Negeri Sembilan provides a fascinating journey into the region’s past. Explore the exhibits and gain insights into the rich heritage of Negeri Sembilan. This museum is a compelling opportunity to connect with the cultural roots of the area.

As an introvert, I found my perfect lepak (relaxing) spot in the Executive Club Lounge. Exclusive to guests staying in Executive Rooms and Suites, this quiet retreat on the 10th floor is accessible to all Executive room types. With operating hours from 7:30 am to 11 pm, it provides a serene environment for both breakfast (8-10:30 am) and evening cocktails (6-8 pm).

Culinary Delights at Han Pi Yuen
During my stay, I had the pleasure of dining at Han Pi Yuen, the Chinese restaurant located at the Mezzanine level. Chef Danniel Chong Xing Yaw and his team prepared a delightful meal, with the salted egg fresh squid being a standout dish. The restaurant offers seven private rooms, making it an ideal venue for corporate events, family functions, and even wedding receptions for up to 250 guests.
