It was my 41st birthday yesterday and I made the right choice to attend the Opening Ceremony and Press Conference of Amazing Seniors’s 2nd Seniors Festival 2023 that is taking place for 3 consecutive days starting on 29th September (Friday) to 1st October (Sunday) 2023 at Atria Shopping Gallery.

Inspiring and Outstanding Senior Individuals
The festival kicked off with an Opening Ceremony and Press Conference on 29th September at about 11 am. The ceremony started off with the “Senior Community Leadership Awards” ceremony to one of the recipients, Ms Lily Fu for her contribution and being a voice for the senior community. Besides that, Amazing Seniors also launched their “Timeless Inspiration Awards”. The award recognizes outstanding senior individuals for their various contributions of excellence in their respective fields.

For your information, the Timeless Inspiration Awards is about people who have created an impact on society and whose accomplishments have the potential to stand the test of time. The recipients of Amazing Seniors inaugural 2023 Timeless Inspiration Awards are: Datuk Mohd Nordin Mohd Khalid (Lat), Dato’ Khadijah Ibrahim, Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi, Ivy Josiah and Datin Paduka Sister Enda. As a “junior” myself, I felt so inspired by these individuals who have been contributing to the society in their own ways while sailing through their “senior” years gracefully. When I grow up, I want to be like them.

Amazing Seniors Festival is the only festival in South East Asia celebrating Malaysia’s older generation. For the second year running, Amazing Seniors has carefully planned and put together events, such as talks by experts packed with up-to-date information that is relevant and applicable to Malaysian seniors. The experts will cover topics on investments, scams, retirement, wellbeing, and all things that can enhance our older community’s lives and lifestyle.

Among some of Amazing Seniors’s strategic partners for 2023 are Pacific Senior Living, Cagamas, Sunway Sanctuary, KL Wellness, Pure Med, Top Group, Pharm D, Curble and Beaconmart.

Amazing Seniors also feature fun, enjoyable and inspiring performances by seniors because we believe that such activities bring meaning into our lives and to create long-lasting memories. These activities include Malaysian seniors singing, dancing (traditional and modern), performing on musical instruments, taking part in fashion shows and much more.

Amazing Seniors Talent Quest
Another event to be held during the festival will be the “Amazing Seniors Talent Quest,” which will take place nightly over the 3-day period. The Talent Quest was launched on 15th July 2023, attracting a total of 114 entries. From the entries, 20 semi-finalists were shortlisted to perform live over the 3 nights of the Festival. Ten finalists will then compete in the grand final happening on Sunday, 1st October 2023 at 7.30pm. Amazing Seniors has invited a distinguished panel of judges for the finals, which includes the renowned Dato’ Khadijah Ibrahim and the Queen of Comedy, Ms Joanne Kam. There will be a total of RM74,000 worth of prizes to be won during the Talent Quest.

The excitement stretches into the “Seniors Fair and Bazaar,“ that will take place on the 1st floor of the Atria Shopping Gallery Event Hall. Festival-goers can shop for food, artcrafts, personal care, fashionable wear, and even enjoy some karaoke, with a chance to win amazing prizes worth RM300,000.

The Amazing Seniors Festival aims to be rated rank as a highly anticipated annual event. A destination for the older community to come together to rethink, reframe, and redefine aging. I have been dining at Mios Kitchen for some time as there’s a branch which is very near to my housing area. I must say that their food is delicious and suits my appetite very much. They offer western and fusion cuisines at super affordable prices.

When I went that day, I tried their Grilled Premium Lamb Chop and Daging Salai Masak Lomak. Seriously so tasty. The lamb chop was really juicy and thick, sides with fresh salad and a corn cob. And the price is RM30.90 only. I like the Daging Salai Masak Lomak too. Cukup pedas and flavourful! Taste even better with rice.

As dessert, I had a bowl of Sago Gula Melaka and Bread Butter Pudding. Not too sweet, just nice to my tastebuds. I like the Sago Gula Melaka as I can adjust my own sweetness with a sachet of gula melaka that comes together. Completed my meal with refreshing fruit juice. There are many other drinks options too like mocktail, ice blended, coffee and tea and others.

As the Merdeka Day is approaching, Mios Kitchen is launching the Combo Merdeka from 30 August to 1 September 2023 which costs RM66 only! At this price, you get a complete meal that caters up to 2-3 persons.

Threads is a social media platform and networking service owned and operated by Meta Platforms, a company based in the United States. With similarities to Twitter, Threads allows users to interact with each other through responses, reposts, and likes while sharing text, photographs, and videos. To use Threads, users must have an Instagram account and use the same handle on both platforms. Since its launch, Threads has emerged as a strong competitor in the social media space, poised to rival Twitter. While the web version has fewer features, the app offers comprehensive functionality and is easily accessible on iOS and Android smartphones. In an impressive feat, Threads attracted 100 million users within its first five days, surpassing the previous record set by ChatGPT.

Pros of Threads:

Enhanced character limit: Threads allows users to post longer messages of up to 500 characters, enabling more detailed and expressive content.
Personalization and customization: Users can easily share their Threads posts on Instagram, expanding their reach. They can also create a separate list of Close Friends for sharing more personal and intimate content.

Cons of Threads:
