If you’re a fan of hot pot and looking for a satisfying dinner spot in Kuala Lumpur, I recommend checking out the Jom Makan-Makan Hot Pot Buffet at Melting Pot Café, located inside Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur. I recently dined there and had a great experience that’s worth sharing with all food lovers.
This all-you-can-eat buffet takes place every Wednesday and Thursday, from 6.00pm to 10.00pm. It’s priced at RM98 nett per adult, and children aged 6 to 11 enjoy 50% off. For the variety and quality offered, I found it to be excellent value for money.
One of the highlights is getting to choose two soup bases for your hot pot. I personally went with the Signature Curry and Clear Chicken soups – both packed with flavour and the right level of spices & herbs. I highly recommend the curry broth which was rich and flavourful, while the chicken soup offered a clean, comforting taste – a great balance to suit different preferences. Other soup options available include Tom Yam, Kimchi, and Tomato.
The ingredient spread is impressive. I enjoyed premium cuts of Australian beef brisket and New Zealand lamb slices, along with chicken, seabass, tiger prawns, and asari clams. Everything was fresh and served in generous portions. There’s also a wide variety of vegetables like long white cabbage, spinach, romaine lettuce, kangkung, and sweet pea sprouts, along with tofu, mushrooms, frozen items, and several types of noodles to customise your pot.
What makes this buffet more special is that it goes beyond just hot pot. The teppanyaki station was a personal favourite – sizzling hot lamb shoulder and chicken grilled to order, with a choice of soy butter or teriyaki butter sauce. They also served tasty sides like prawn and vegetable tempura, fried mee mamak, Yong Chow fried rice, and chicken karaage with wasabi mayo.
Dessert lovers won’t be disappointed. The selection includes baked Japanese citrus cheesecake, red velvet cake, tiramisu, chocolate mousse, and assorted mini French pastries. There’s also a DIY ABC (Ais Kacang) station and freshly made waffles with ice cream and sweet toppings – a perfect way to end the meal.
If you’re planning to visit, I recommend booking early as seating is limited.

25 June marks a significant day for millions around the world — the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s passing. Though it’s been years since 2009, the King of Pop’s influence continues to resonate across generations.
In remembrance of his legacy, I had the rare and unforgettable opportunity to step into the very suite where Michael Jackson stayed during his tour in Malaysia — The MJ Suite — right here at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur. A surreal moment that brought me closer to the legend himself.

Michael Jackson’s Historic Stay at Concorde Hotel KL When Michael Jackson performed in Kuala Lumpur during his HIStory World Tour in 1996, it was a monumental moment for Malaysian fans. His electrifying 2-day sold out concert at Stadium Merdeka remains one of the most iconic music events ever held in the country. The show was promoted by none other than Tan Sri Syed Yusof Tun Syed Nasir of Jojo Events, a name synonymous with top-tier entertainment. I was in my teenage years at that time. During that visit, he checked into Concorde Hotel KL, one of the top luxury hotels in Kuala Lumpur, known for hosting world-renowned figures.

Tucked away from public access today, the suite has been preserved in honour of Michael Jackson’s visit, like a time capsule dedicated to the global icon. Although it is not open to the public, I was fortunate enough to be given access — and what an experience it was.

A Glimpse Into the King of Pop’s Private Space The suite is spacious and elegant, with an ambiance that feels frozen in time. Walking in, I could feel a mix of nostalgia and reverence. It was surreal to imagine Michael Jackson once moving around this very space, perhaps writing notes, listening to music, or simply taking a break from his hectic tour schedule.

Some of the highlights in the suite include:
Original pen and paper which MJ had scribbled ideas and thoughts.
A special portrait of Michael Jackson – painted by our very own talented actor, comedian, and painter – Dato’ Imuda, personally signed by Michael Jackson himself.
A collection of his album memorabilia, displayed proudly on a shelf.
Framed newspaper cuttings from local and international press documenting his arrival, performance, and presence in KL.
Photographs of his visit to Malaysia, including snapshots with fans and hotel staff.
And many other small yet meaningful items — each offering a deeper connection to the artist behind the music.

This isn’t just a hotel suite — it’s a silent tribute to the legacy of Michael Jackson. It’s clear the hotel has made an effort to retain the suite’s authenticity and preserve it with care, as a way to honour one of the greatest entertainers in history.

A Brief Look at Michael Jackson’s Music Legacy Michael Jackson was more than just a singer — he was a revolutionary artist whose influence spans decades. Starting as a child star with the Jackson 5, he quickly rose to solo fame with albums like Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory. His music broke records, crossed cultural boundaries, and inspired generations.
Thriller, released in 1982, remains the best-selling album of all time. From hits like Billie Jean and Beat It to his legendary moonwalk on Motown 25, Jackson constantly reinvented music videos, stage performances, and global entertainment.
His tour in Kuala Lumpur was part of the final phase of his career at its peak, making his stay here even more historically meaningful.
We are very glad to have the opportunity to visit this suite
Final Thoughts Growing up listening to Michael Jackson’s songs, his music became part of the soundtrack of my life. As an admirer of his work, it was a true honour to step into the suite where Michael Jackson once stayed. It’s rare to get such a close, personal connection to someone who shaped the global music industry. While the suite at Concorde Hotel KL is currently not open to the public, knowing that it exists — preserved and respected — gives comfort to fans who still celebrate his music and memory.
On this 25 June, let us not only remember the day we lost the King of Pop, but also celebrate the timeless music he gave the world. And for those who ever stay at Concorde Hotel, know that behind one of those doors lies a suite filled with music history.

Premium King Room
The Premium King Room I stayed in was clean, modern, and spacious. The design leans towards minimalist European style—simple yet functional. I had a king-sized bed that was really comfortable, and the room included a dedicated work desk, fast Wi-Fi, USB ports, and a large TV. The bathroom was equally well-maintained, with good water pressure and all the basic toiletries provided. It’s the kind of room that makes you want to rest in a little longer.
Love the view hereSwimming pool
Now, the facilities here were the real surprise. I didn’t expect a hotel in Ipoh to offer such a comprehensive list of amenities. First off, the swimming pool is located on the 4th floor and offers a calm environment to unwind. Whether you’re looking for a casual swim or just want to sit by the water with a book, it’s a nice spot to relax.

Their packages also come with complimentary unlimited snacks & drinks. GymPickleball courts
On the 11th floor, fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the gym, which is more than just a couple of machines in a small room. It’s well-equipped with treadmills, free weights, and other gear that lets you keep up with your routine. What really caught my attention, though, were the pickleball courts. You don’t see that in many hotels. It’s something unique and fun, especially if you’re traveling in a group.
One of the meeting roomsSpa
For those seeking relaxation, the in-house spa offers massages and other treatments in a calm, serene setting. I didn’t manage to squeeze in a session this time, but it’s definitely something I’d plan for on my next visit. Pre-booking is required.
Business travelers will appreciate the range of banquet halls, meeting and conference rooms available. They’re spacious, fully equipped with modern tech, and suitable for both small meetings and larger-scale events or workshops.
AC Genius Lab
A unique facility here is a co-working space called AC Genius Lab, designed for both in-house guests and walk-ins. It’s a practical option if you need to catch up on work, host a quick meeting, or just want a quiet spot with high-speed Wi-Fi and comfortable seating. The space is well-equipped with charging ports, workstations, and a clean, modern setup that fits right into the hotel’s overall vibe.
The hotel also features a lounge for The Ipoh Tin Mine Club members at AC Hotel on the 10th floor, exclusive for Marriott Bonvoy members to sit with a coffee or get some work done.
The Ipoh Tin Mine ClubLuk Yu Tea House
For dinner, I dined at the hotel’s popular Chinese restaurant, Luk Yu Tea House, the hotel’s well-known Chinese restaurant. They serve a variety of dishes including dim sum, soups, rice, noodles, and traditional desserts. I tried a few steamed dim sum, a comforting bowl of soup, and ended the meal with a cold Chinese dessert. Tasty and satisfying.
I also had breakfast at AC Kitchen, the hotel restaurant. The buffet included a mix of local and international dishes. It wasn’t overly extravagant, but everything tasted fresh and the variety was good enough to suit most preferences.

As for the service, I found the staff professional and welcoming. The check-in process was smooth, and they were helpful throughout my stay. Requests were handled quickly and politely, which made the experience all the more pleasant.
Overall, I would say AC Hotels by Marriott Ipoh is a great option if you’re looking for a modern stay that offers more than just a bed for the night. Whether you’re visiting Ipoh for work or a short holiday, this hotel has the right balance of comfort, functionality, and facilities to enhance your trip.
I recently spent 3 days and 2 nights at the Iconic Marjorie Hotel, Penang – A Tribute Portfolio by Marriott Bonvoy in Bayan Lepas, and it turned out to be one of the most refreshing getaways I’ve had in a while. The 5-Star hotel strikes a great balance between comfort, elegance, and convenience — making it a solid choice for both leisure and business travelers.
Lobby
Let’s start with the location. It’s strategically nestled near some of Penang’s key landmarks: Queensbay Mall, Penang International Airport, the Nibong Tebal Bus Terminal, and even George Town are just a short drive away. Whether you’re coming for shopping, flying in or out, or planning to explore the heritage city, the location works perfectly.

I stayed in the Deluxe Guest Room with a king-sized bed, and honestly, it was more than just a place to sleep. The room was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed with modern touches. I especially appreciated the cozy bed and the well-lit workspace — ideal for winding down or catching up on some light work. The only thing that could’ve made the stay even better would be having a bathtub.

The hotel’s facilities are another highlight. There’s a 24-hour gym that’s well-equipped for a quick workout any time of day. I also made time to relax by the swimming pool, which had a lovely view and a peaceful vibe. The steam room was a nice bonus — perfect for unwinding after a busy day. I was told they’re opening a spa called Nest Spa soon, which I think will be a great addition for guests looking to pamper themselves.
Tiffin HallBreakfast spread
What sets Iconic Marjorie apart is its farm-to-table concept. The hotel has its own on-site farm, which supplies fresh ingredients to the kitchen. I could taste the difference during my daily breakfast at Tiffin Hall — everything felt wholesome, hearty, and flavourful. There was a wide variety of choices in the buffet spread, from local favourites to continental options, making it easy to find something for every palate. It’s a great way to start the day.

For dinner, I tried the food at Tiffin Hall, the same in-house restaurant where breakfast is served. The menu features a mix of Peranakan dishes and Western selections, offering decent variety for guests who prefer the convenience of dining within the hotel. The setting was quiet and pleasant, which made it a comfortable spot to wind down for the evening.
For those travelling for business or planning events, the hotel is also well-prepared. They offer multiple meeting rooms, conference rooms, and even a banquet hall that can cater to corporate functions, seminars, weddings or private celebrations. The environment is sleek and professional — exactly what you’d expect from a well-managed hotel.

Overall, my stay at Iconic Marjorie Hotel was more than just a stay — it was an experience. From the comfort of the room to the impressive facilities and warm hospitality, everything was well thought out.
