My Experience at Iconic Marjorie Hotel Penang – Great Location & Modern Comforts

I recently spent 3 days and 2 nights at the Iconic Marjorie Hotel, Penang – A Tribute Portfolio by Marriott Bonvoy in Bayan Lepas, and it turned out to be one of the most refreshing getaways I’ve had in a while. The 5-Star hotel strikes a great balance between comfort, elegance, and convenience — making it a solid choice for both leisure and business travelers.

Let’s start with the location. It’s strategically nestled near some of Penang’s key landmarks: Queensbay Mall, Penang International Airport, the Nibong Tebal Bus Terminal, and even George Town are just a short drive away. Whether you’re coming for shopping, flying in or out, or planning to explore the heritage city, the location works perfectly.

I stayed in the Deluxe Guest Room with a king-sized bed, and honestly, it was more than just a place to sleep. The room was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed with modern touches. I especially appreciated the cozy bed and the well-lit workspace — ideal for winding down or catching up on some light work. The only thing that could’ve made the stay even better would be having a bathtub.

The hotel’s facilities are another highlight. There’s a 24-hour gym that’s well-equipped for a quick workout any time of day. I also made time to relax by the swimming pool, which had a lovely view and a peaceful vibe. The steam room was a nice bonus — perfect for unwinding after a busy day. I was told they’re opening a spa called Nest Spa soon, which I think will be a great addition for guests looking to pamper themselves.

What sets Iconic Marjorie apart is its farm-to-table concept. The hotel has its own on-site farm, which supplies fresh ingredients to the kitchen. I could taste the difference during my daily breakfast at Tiffin Hall — everything felt wholesome, hearty, and flavourful. There was a wide variety of choices in the buffet spread, from local favourites to continental options, making it easy to find something for every palate. It’s a great way to start the day.

For dinner, I tried the food at Tiffin Hall, the same in-house restaurant where breakfast is served. The menu features a mix of Peranakan dishes and Western selections, offering decent variety for guests who prefer the convenience of dining within the hotel. The setting was quiet and pleasant, which made it a comfortable spot to wind down for the evening.

For those travelling for business or planning events, the hotel is also well-prepared. They offer multiple meeting rooms, conference rooms, and even a banquet hall that can cater to corporate functions, seminars, weddings or private celebrations. The environment is sleek and professional — exactly what you’d expect from a well-managed hotel.

And yes, complimentary parking is provided for all hotel guests — which is always a plus in busy areas like Penang.

Overall, my stay at Iconic Marjorie Hotel was more than just a stay — it was an experience. From the comfort of the room to the impressive facilities and warm hospitality, everything was well thought out. If you’re planning a trip to Penang — whether for work, leisure, or a mix of both — I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Top Hotel Picks in Phuket: Best Western Patong and Oceanfront Resort Review

Planning a beach getaway to Phuket soon? I recently had the chance to stay at two very different—but equally awesome—hotels that I think you’ll want to consider. Whether you’re here for beach vibes, convenience, or comfort, these two hotels deliver in their own way. Here’s my honest take based on my personal experience.

1. Best Western Patong Beach Resort
📍190 ถนน ผังเมืองสายกอ Pa Tong, Kathu District, Phuket 83150, Thailand

If you’re looking for a stay right in the heart of Patong without breaking the bank, this hotel is a gem. I stayed here for 2 nights, and it was super convenient for exploring the lively streets, local food spots, and of course, Patong Beach.

Room Facilities & Amenities
Clean, modern rooms with free Wi-Fi, a comfy bed, mini fridge, in-room safe, flat-screen TV, and air conditioning (a must in Phuket). The bathroom was spacious with a powerful hot shower. Other facilities include a rooftop swimming pool and jacuzzi with a bar, a fitness centre and an internet corner.

Breakfast:
Buffet-style with both Western and Thai options—nothing fancy but enough to fill you up before heading out.

Location & Accessibility:
Located just a short 10-minute walk to Patong Beach and Jungceylon Mall. Lots of restaurants and 7-Eleven stores nearby. Perfect for first-timers in Phuket.

2. Oceanfront Beach Resort and Spa
📍320 2 Phrabaramee Rd, Pa Tong, Kathu District, Phuket 83150, Thailand

For a more relaxing and scenic vibe, I switched over to Oceanfront Beach Resort, a 5-star hotel in Kalim. This place is all about sea views and tranquility.

Room Facilities & Amenities:
Spacious rooms with stunning sea-facing balconies. My room had a large bathtub, coffee machine, Smart TV, and a dreamy king-size bed. Definitely more upscale and great for couples or solo unwinders. Other facilities include an outdoor swimming pool & jacuzzi, fitness centre, snooker & pool room, squash court, restaurants, and more.

Breakfast:
This is one of my favourite breakfast experience. They offer a really good spread! Fresh fruits, pastries, eggs cooked to order, Thai dishes, and barista-made coffee & beverages.

Location & Accessibility:
A bit more secluded, about 10 minutes by tuk-tuk from Patong. If you want serenity away from the crowd, this is it. Also it’s 2-minute walking distance to the nearest 7-Eleven store.

Both hotels gave me a different side of Phuket—one vibrant, one peaceful—and I honestly loved both. Whether you’re in the mood to party or just relax by the sea, you won’t go wrong with either of these.

Let me know which one suits your travel style better!

Why Casa del Rio Melaka is My Hotel Choice for A Staycation

A 5-Star Luxurious Stay at Casa del Rio Melaka
During my recent trip to Melaka, my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Casa del Rio, a 5-star luxury hotel perfectly situated along the Melaka River. Just a short walk from Jonker Street, it offered the best of both worlds—convenience and tranquility. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by its Mediterranean-inspired design, with warm tones, arched windows, water fountains and elegant architecture that transported me to a different world.

A Room with A View
The Studio Lago/River King Room was spacious and beautifully designed, complete with a private balcony overlooking the Melaka River. I loved starting my mornings with a cup of coffee while taking in the peaceful view. The highlight of the room was the huge bathtub—perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day of exploring Melaka’s historical streets. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and every detail in the room reflected the hotel’s commitment to luxury and comfort. Other facilities include coffee machine, TV, hair dryer, a sofa, iron & ironing board, robes and more.

Rooftop Pool & Gym
One of the best features of Casa del Rio was the rooftop swimming pool. The infinity pool overlooked the Melaka River, offering a breathtaking view, especially during sunset. It was the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the atmosphere. For those who like to stay active, the decent-sized gym was well-equipped with modern facilities, making it easy to keep up with workouts even while on vacation.

Breakfast at The River Grill
Besides the Ramadan Buffet Preview feast we had the night before, breakfast at the hotel was also a delightful experience, with a semi-buffet spread alongside an à la carte menu. The semi-buffet spread includes dim sum, porridge, cereal, pancakes & pastries, coffee & tea. I was recommended to try their must-try, Portuguese Baked Eggs and Kaya Toast. The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was exceptional. The restaurant had a relaxing ambience, making it a great place to start the day.

Exploring Melaka on Two Wheels
A unique perk of staying at Casa del Rio was the option to rent a bicycle and explore the town. Riding through Melaka’s heritage streets at my own pace was an unforgettable experience. The bicycle rental service is available exclusively for in-house guests from 9.00am to 7.00pm with the first 2 hours complimentary, and subsequent hours at RM10 nett per hour. By the way, hotel guests enjoy complimentary parking too.

A Favourite Among Celebrities
It’s easy to see why Casa del Rio is a top choice for celebrities and well-known personalities. Even my favourite singer, DS Siti Nurhaliza stayed here before!

The combination of luxury, comfort, and impeccable service made my stay truly special. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable experience in Melaka.

It’s a place for you to indulge in the world’s finest cigars and drinks while playing in a refined atmosphere. Conveniently located at Level 1 near the Bay Tower entrance.

ChiMac Festival: A Celebration of Korean Culture
I was fortunate to attend Manila’s biggest ChiMac Festival during my stay, an event that perfectly blended Korean culture, food, and entertainment. Held at the Grand Ballroom, the festival featured mouthwatering Korean dishes like Tteokbokki, Buchimgae, and the ever-popular Korean fried chicken, paired with refreshing Korean beer. The atmosphere was vibrant, with live performances from DJ Kara and The Itchyworms, making it a night filled with fun and excitement. One of the highlights was trying on traditional Hanbok attire and getting a taste of authentic Korean culture right in the heart of Solaire.

The spa experience at Solaire Resort was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I entered the serene space, I was enveloped in a tranquil ambiance designed to soothe the mind and body. Despite the steam room and sauna being unavailable, the jacuzzi and other spa amenities provided the perfect complement to the treatment, leaving me feeling completely refreshed and revitalized.

Mường Thanh Luxury Vientiane Review: 5-star Hotel in Vientiane with Convenient Location and Excellent Facilities

Prime Location in the Heart of Vientiane
During my recent trip to Laos, I had the opportunity to stay at Mường Thanh Luxury Vientiane, a 5-star hotel in Vientiane. It was my first time crossing borders from Nong Khai Thailand to Vientiane Laos via the First Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. In Vientiane, I had the opportunity to stay in its 5-star hotel which I would recommend staying called Mường Thanh Luxury Vientiane. I was genuinely impressed by the experience and would highly recommend it to you. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Vientiane, with easy access to all the major sights and just a 30-45 minute drive from the Nong Khai customs boundary. It was incredibly convenient, especially after a long journey from Udon Thani.

Extensive Hotel Facilities
The facilities at the hotel are extensive as well. If you have the time, I suggest spending a good amount of it relaxing by the swimming pool on the 5th floor, which offers a serene escape with stunning views. The gym is well-equipped, perfect for those who wish to maintain their fitness routine even while traveling. The restaurant offers a fantastic mix of local and international dishes, while the bar on the 25th floor provides a beautiful view of the city. Only if I have the time, I would enjoy a pampering session at its spa on the 4th floor.

Luxurious and Well-Equipped Rooms
What really stood out was the comfort and spaciousness of the rooms. Each room is elegantly designed and well-equipped with modern amenities, including comfortable beds, a flat-screen TV, a minibar, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. The bathrooms are equally impressive, featuring luxurious toiletries, and a rain shower—making it a great place to unwind after a day of exploring. It would be great if there’s a bathtub.

Overall, my stay at Mường Thanh Luxury Vientiane was unexpectedly good, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a blend of convenience, comfort, and a touch of luxury in Vientiane, regardless for business or leisure.
