Celebrity Chef Anis Nabilah and Professor Dr. Shahrim Karim, who is a Professor of Malaysian Heritage Food and Culture at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), were in attendance at the launch event. They demonstrated their culinary skills and expertise by creating a delicious Laksa dish while sharing the dish’s rich history and evolution.

Laksa is a cuisine that has its roots in the Peranakan population and is heavily influenced by Southeast Asian cultures from China, Malaysia, and Indonesia. According to Professor Dr. Shahrim Karim, Laksa is truly Malaysia’s national dish that transcends cultures and geographical boundaries. It has evolved into a variety of dishes that we are familiar with and enjoy today, ranging from the traditional Curry Laksa to more creative dishes like Assam Laksa, Sarawak Laksa, Nyonya Laksa, and Johor Laksa.

The soul of Laksa lies in its vibrant and aromatic flavours. A good Laksa is all about the balancing act between various ingredients with the constant stirring towards the ‘pecah minyak’ stage, which is vital for the perfect Laksa flavour that culminates in a true culinary delight.

MAGGI Works with Women’s Ministry & Tech Firms to Improve Women’s Involvement in the Digital Economy

Through its Program Mentor Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® (‘PMWCBM’), MAGGI® is reaffirming its dedication to empowering women and small business owners. In collaboration with Google, Meta, and TikTok, MAGGI® has announced the third edition of PMWCBM in honour of International Women’s Day in 2023. This partnership provides a thorough upskilling workshop and masterclass centred on social media content creation, personal development, and how to expand a food business. More than 3,500 women nationwide have been impacted by the programme since its launch in 2020

Women in Malaysia have numerous opportunities to generate sustainable income from food content and level up their food businesses with digital skills and capabilities. By working with renowned digital leaders like Google, Meta, and TikTok, MAGGI® is going one step further to advance Program Mentor Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® to the next level.

A brand-new online module is being offered as part of this year’s Bengkel Online Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® for participants who want to start their journey as food-based content creators, either as individuals or business owners. The chance to attend a Masterclass: Food Influencer and Content Creator with MAGGI® is also offered to participants. In addition to sharing tips, best practices, and advice on content creation, experts from Google, Meta, and TikTok also share stories from successful influencers to motivate participants. Following a thorough selection process, 21 winners will be chosen to receive a contract with MAGGI® and be part of an exclusive mentorship program to become food content creators.
