Nestled in the scenic landscapes of Baling, Kedah, Weng Valley stands as a testament to the warmth and charm of rural Malaysia. As I embarked on a journey to this hidden gem, I was not only welcomed by the villagers but also treated to an immersive experience that showcased the rich tapestry of their community.

A Culinary Adventure
We were welcomed by the villagers from the moment we stepped into Weng Valley, with a variety of traditional Malaysian goodies. The locals, proud as punch of their culinary skills, treated me to a buffet of delights. Kuih cucur jawa, sweet kuih bingka sawit, peknga (coconut pancake) and roti Arab – I felt like I hit the foodie jackpot, getting a real taste of the local flavours. These make great breakfast or snacks, especially when served with hot coffee or tea.

Splash, Shop, and Savour
Weng Valley isn’t just about incredible eats and nature vibes—it’s got a swimming pool, that comes with a water playground, perfect for cooling off in style. Excellent spot for everyone, adults and kids. And as you chill around, don’t miss the cool little pop-up stores in containers nearby. They’re like hidden gems, selling everything from local goodies to worthy souvenirs and tasty bites.

Buzzin’ with Nature
Weng Valley isn’t just about satisfying your taste buds; it’s a playground for nature lovers too. The Lebah Kelulut Weng Valley bee farm was a buzzing hive of excitement. I got up close and personal with the world of stingless bees, not to mention tasting some of their honey and sipping on fresh honey! To me, the stingless bee honey tasted a little bit sourish sweet and it taste good when added into coffee. They also sell freshly harvested honey and locally produced coffee powder too. For your information, there is also a cucumber farm nearby – a green paradise showcasing the village’s commitment to farming and biodiversity. It’s also my first time seeing cucumbers hanging from the vine. When a city boy goes into a kampung!

Upcycled Vibes
One of the coolest things about Weng Valley is how they jazz up their homes with recycled stuff. Tyres, bottles, rubber, towels, and toys become the hippest decorations you’ve ever seen. They upcycle these items and make them into different shapes like motorcycle, sunflowers, chairs, tables, fish, flower pots and many more. It’s like a crash course in creative sustainability, proving that you can turn everyday items into jaw-dropping decor.

Thrills and Chills
Adventure junkies, listen up! Weng Valley has got what you’re looking for. Adventures beckon at every turn, whether you’re tearing through an oil palm field on an ATV or gracefully gliding across a pond in a kayak. I opted for the ATV during my visit, and it was a decision I didn’t regret! We formed a convoy, navigating through the plantation, crossing small creeks, and maneuvering through mud pools, adding excitement to the entire journey.

Lunchtime Feast
After a day jam-packed with exploring, my taste buds were treated to a feast at lunchtime. Picture this: gulai daging batang pisang, ayam masak merah, and kerabu pucuk paku. All served up with a side of ulam and sambal and fresh coconut water – a culinary finale that summed up the essence of Weng Valley. Definitely a memorable trip for me.

Sebarau Park Campsite
Sebarau Park could be your go-to if you’re a fan of camping vibes. Nestled in the heart of Weng Dalam, Baling, Kedah, it’s like a chill spot surrounded by fruit orchards. They’ve got the basics covered – places to change, toilets, and a surau. However, please do not expect fancy chalets, but there are wooden and rattan huts for day visitors. Teratak Simpul
Teratak Simpul is yet another haven for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a healing haven. You have the option to rent huts, with prices ranging from RM40 to RM100, depending on their size. At the heart of DIMA Garden, you’ll find the coolest swimming pool ever! It’s designed with both the kiddos and grown-ups in mind. The water is so clear, making it not only refreshing but also safe for everyone. Hygiene is also taken care here as all users are required to wear the suitable swimwear and shower before going in for a swim. They’ve got different sections in the pool, kids’ pool and adult pool, so everyone gets their own space to splash around and swim. And here’s the fun part – they’ve got these awesome water splash arches and a huge mushroom fountain where kids can play around!

ATV Thrills
For all you thrill-seekers out there, DIMA Garden has something that’ll get your heart racing – an ATV track that’s an absolute steal from as low as RM30! As a kid, I always admired how Robin Hood shoot arrows to save others. As an adult, I’m amazed with Hawkeye from Marvel. At DIMA Garden, I get to do this – archery! At a mere RM10, and you get to shoot seven arrows like a pro. Don’t worry if you’ve never held a bow before – this isn’t about perfection; it’s about embracing a new adventure. You may also ask around and get tips from the pros who coincidentally happen to be there too, like how I did when I was there. This guy was very generous to share his knowledge on how to hold the bow and aim, guiding me to shoot my first arrow. Basically it’s not just about hitting a target; it’s hitting the bullseye of fun with family and friends, and trying out a new skill together.
