People who know me will know that I have a soft spot for traditional Malay food. So when I attended the Grannies Makan Makan Fiesta, I was genuinely excited to discover Grannies Kiosk Melawati. Tucked inside Restoran Sajian Mak Lang, just a short distance from Melawati Mall, this humble spot is easy to access, and yes, parking is surprisingly convenient around the area. You can literally see this building from MRR2.

Grannies started about 8 years ago, back in 2018, and in February 2026, its very first kiosk was opened right here in Taman Melawati. Today, it continues to serve authentic Terengganu cuisine, preserving recipes that have been passed down through generations. If you’re a fan of traditional flavours, this is the kind of place that feels both nostalgic and comforting.

They operate daily for breakfast from 7am to 12pm, which honestly makes it the perfect morning makan spot. Their menu is packed with classics like nasi dagang, nasi lemak sambal ikan, laksa (both kuah putih and kuah merah), pulut lepa (pulut panggang), pulut tapai, and assorted kuihs, just to name a few. Everything here leans heavily into authentic East Coast flavours—rich, slightly sweet, and deeply satisfying.

From what I tried, I highly recommend the Nasi Dagang Ikan and Nasi Pulut Rendang Daging. The nasi dagang hits that perfect balance with its fragrant rice and flavourful fish curry, while the pulut rendang is hearty and indulgent. Don’t skip their kuih-muih too—simple, traditional, and done right.
Fun fact: their nasi dagang is also available at all Kueh Cafe outlets across Klang Valley, a brand owned by Ezwan Zain aka Mr E (Erra Fazira’s husband). So yes, you know it’s legit.

Grannies also accept orders via WhatsApp or call (013-9075199), and there’s no minimum order—which is quite rare. Whether it’s catering, a small birthday party, or even a casual gathering, they can customise games and activities to suit your event.
It’s no surprise that local celebrities like Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza, Neelofa, and Dato’ Aznil Nawawi (Pak Nil) also loved their food.
