The moment we heard that Kwee Zeen in Sofitel KL Damansara is having their Surf & Turf Extravaganza Buffet Dinner, my wife and I knew that we had to come back for it. True enough, we had a pleasurable gastronomic experience that evening.
The buffet is on every Thursday (6.30pm – 10pm) for the month of January for the price of RM138+ (adult) and RM69+ (children aged 7 to 11 years old).
The highlights of the buffet include beef tenderloin Wellington topped with prawns, London broil with chimichurri, shrimp scampi with broccoli, BBQ beef short ribs, baked navarin of chicken, gnocchi with prawns and asparagus ragout, lemon pepper cuttlefish with parsley butter, salted crust whole seabass, succulent herb spiced lamb, rotisserie chicken, Yorkshire pudding, barbecued chicken shish taouk, barbecued lamb shoulder, baked fish with harra sauce, seafood on ice such as slipper lobster, mussels, scallops, shrimps, yabbies, flower crab and many more.
Besides there main-theme highlights, the usual spread is still available too – beef and chicken sate, assorted serunding, lemang and ketupat, nasi goreng ikan masin, daging rendang “Minang”, assorted cheese, dim sum, cured meat, salad, fruits and rojak, gado-gado, lamb biryani, barbecued lamb shoulder, couscous, pasta and pizza, fruit juices, coffee and tea and many more.
We definitely enjoyed the hearty buffet spread this round, especially the fresh seafood on ice. Also, as always, my personal favourite is their dessert corner and they never disappoint to serve mouthwatering cakes and pastries there. I am deeply in love with their Caramel & Chocolate Tartlet, Red Velvet Crèmeux, Hazelnut Paris Breast Choux, Double Chocolate Brownies, Bread & Butter Chocolate Pudding and assorted macarons. Every time I return, I look forward to get these to kill my sweet tooth.

I am so glad to be invited to attend the launching of the #HGEatGoodChallenge today at Bangsar. Harvest Gourmet, Nestlé Malaysia’s plant-based food brand, is launching this campaign to advocate healthier and more sustainable diets amongst Malaysians, in collaboration with BookDoc.
Presenting Harvest Gourmet Plant-based Creations. From L-R: Qiu Wen, Indra Balaratnam, Dietitian, Geetha Balakrishna, Business Executive Officer of Food Business, Nestle (M) Berhad, Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer, Nestle (M) Berhad, Jean Ho, Business Manager, Nestle’s Harvest Gourmet, Scha Alyahya, Dini Schatzmann
Plant-based diet is getting more popular globally People from around the world are becoming more environmentally and health-conscious, which leads to an increasing number of people reducing meat consumption and embracing more plant-based diets. By offering simple and easy-to-prepare plant-based foods that does not compromise on taste, nutrition and value, Nestlé’s Harvest Gourmet offers Malaysian consumers healthier alternatives for the everyday meals they love.
The topic of plant-based food alternatives has taken centre stage at the recent 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 27), as the global food system is responsible for more than 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, and 57% of these are derived from the processing of meat, dairy products and crops for animal feed. Hence, shifting to a plant-based diet is a positive action to fight against climate change.
Speaking at the media launch of the #HGEatGoodChallenge today, Mr Juan Aranols, CEO of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad said more Malaysians are willing to improve their diets and are increasingly aware of the impact of their choices on the planet.
Mr Juan Aranols, CEO of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad
“#HGEatGoodChallenge aims to encourage Malaysians to start an experiential journey, discovering easy ways to adopt tasty plant-based meals as part of their everyday diets. It will be a meaningful campaign to kickstart into a healthier new year, while doing good for the planet!”
enthused Mr Juan Aranols, CEO of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad
#HGEatGoodChallenge to promote healthier lifestyle From 10 December 2022 to 8 January 2023, participants are required to register on the BookDoc health app to be able to participate in the challenge. On top of that, all Challenge Finishers will receive an E-certificate by Nestlé RELeaf, as Harvest Gourmet commits to planting a new tree in 2023 for every participant who completes the challenge. Nestlé RELeaf is Nestlé Malaysia’s largest reforestation programme, aiming to plant 3 million trees by end of 2024.

Insight sharing by consultant dietitian “Nutrition is one of the elements of the wellness spectrum. However, most of us neglect having balanced meals due to our busy lifestyles and lack of discipline. Statistics show that 1 in 2 adults are overweight or obese, 3 in 10 adults have high blood pressure; and heart disease remains the top killer of Malaysians 1. It is well proven that eating a diet abundant of plant-based foods positively benefits our health by lowering the risk of developing coronary heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes, and increasing life expectancy,”
said Ms Indra Balaratnam, consultant dietitian
Cooking demonstration using Nestlé’s Harvest Gourmet products Indra curated two simple and delicious recipes using Nestlé’s Harvest Gourmet for the challenge, which she demo-cooked at the event. The Spicy Gochujang Honey Glazed Harvest Gourmet Nuggets and Spiced Harvest Gourmet Mince with Green Peas will both be part of the 15 plant-based meal inspirations made available for participants during the #HGEatGoodChallenge.

I found some U.S. Russet Potatoes sitting in the kitchen the other day and been wondering what can I do with them. I think I should try this simple and yet very special recipe – 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗽𝘆 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.
It’s very easy to make. All you need is some U.S. Russet Potatoes (medium size) and 2 other secret ingredients (refer to the full recipe). I choose russet potatoes because they become soft and fluffy after cook and I really love the texture. Watch the video to see how I made these cute bubbles and check the full recipe from the link above.
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗲𝘀: You can cook them in many ways like baked, steamed, boiled and many more. It’s also fat, sodium and cholesterol-free, which makes it a healthy choice. A healthier source of carbohydrate too. U.S. Potatoes are full of Vitamin C, potassium (approximately 620mg, more than a banana!) and Vitamin B6. A medium sized potato carries only about 110 calories per serving.
We are back at Kwee Zeen restaurant at the Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara for some authentic Thai cuisine. The Flavours of Thailand Buffet Dinner promotion debut from 7th to 16th October 2022.
