Nak Bayar Saman Pun Susah!

Still remember last week a hungry police stopped me asking for "belanja" but his mission failed and slapped me with a piece of saman? At first, I wanted to wait for the date given and attend to court. But I was advised by someone to pay the saman early (within one week) to avoid further inconveniences and to enjoy the discounts! Yes, MEGASALES is over but they do have discounts for saman. Great deal!

Anyway, I went to the one and only Balai Polis Trafik KL Thursday night after work to check if they are still open for business. Eventually, the policeman at the main gate informed that they are only opened during office hours 8.00am to 5.00pm. And told us that they are even opened on Saturday and Sunday. I was like "Wow! That’s good". Then, I planned to come again early in the morning on Saturday, before my work.

And here comes Saturday morning…

I woke up early and drove all the way down the one and only Balai Polis Trafik KL, which is located along Jalan Tun HS Lee, behind Plaza Warisan and Uda Ocean (easier to say, the old VI area),  to pay my saman. Now, another policeman at the main gate told me that they are only opened at 9.00am on Saturday. "Oh… my Saturday morning sleep…". He told me to ‘pergi minum dulu’. What to do? I went back to the car and wanted to drive to the nearest mamak stall for a drink. Eventually, I found out that parking in KL area is so difficult. So, I drove back to the police station, stopped there and waited until 9.00am.

At 9.00am sharp, I walked in to the saman counter. It’s not opened yet! But a few other "offenders" were there already. I joined in the crowd and waited along. The counter however began their transaction at around 9.15am. Well, no surprise that their timing is slower than ordinary Malaysians.

The counter was separated into 2 division; one for checking and another one for payment. I lined up at the checking counter first. I told that guy to check how much should I pay and if there’s any other saman under my name. He told me the existing one is RM50.00 only after discount (OP: RM100.00). He also said that I have another saman, which is a speed trap taken in Bentong in March 2008, which cost RM200.00 after discount (OP:RM300.00). I was like, "Huh?! How come? I am a snail driver worr…?! When was that? Could be the time Mein & I went to Kuantan last year…" But without any way to object, I have to pay for that saman. So, I walked towards the payment counter and paid RM250.00 under the name of charity to PDRM.

Saturday : 9.00am – 12.00pm
No mention of opening on Sunday.

A Sneak Preview of My CNY

We have some sort decorated the house with a special one-of-its-kind CNY tree. It’s actually the same Christmas tree we used for X’mas last month. Just switch the deco items to some CNY stuff and viola!

Another thing is that I’ve received "the" card today, from a very special person. It’s the greeting card from YB Teresa Kok. I visited her blog early this week and there was this CNY greetings she posted and asked anybody who’s interested to get a hardcopy of the card to send in their name and address. I gave it a try and I really got it from her; with her autograph some more! Wow! Very impressive! Thank you very much for the greeting card-cum-calendar. Extremely thoughtful. Please keep up the fantastic job!

My First eBay Purchase

Finally, I have made up my mind to try to make an eBay purchase… after quite some time considering the consequences and all… The experience was great and I am lucky enough to find a professional eBay seller.

The service was good and prompt. Please find the chronology of my purchase below :

19 Jan 09
1. Found a piece that I like and reasonably priced.
2. Placed order

20 Jan 09
1. Received email for seller on his bank account.
2. Transferred money to seller.
3. Seller confirmed receipt of payment.

21 Jan 09
1. Item received.

My Comment :
Very good service and I have learnt one thing from this purchase – online purchase is not that dangerous after all. But, of course, you need to find a good seller for the best result.

A Tiring (Happy) Sunday!

We started our precious Sunday early at 7.00am today. After sending those recyclable stuff to the collection centre (as today is the 3rd Sunday of the month), we drove to Carrefour, Endah Parade for our CNY shopping. We became the first group of customer. Haha! We went there early to avoid the human traffic. A few other groups were there already as well, whom I consider SMART consumers…

After Carrefour, we went back home for a short while to put our shopping outcomes and rushed to Time Square. I was stopped by a "hungry" policeman asking for "belanja".

Policeman : Boleh belanja saya minum?

Me : You mahu macam mana?

Policeman : Belanja minum lah…

Me : Tak apalah.

Me being myself, I did not "belanja" him. So he slapped me with a piece of paper requesting me to attend to the court in March. Basically, I did not do anything wrong. He argued with me saying that I forcefully turn left into Jalan Davis from Jalan Tun Razak in the Kg. Pandan roundabout. I don’t see ANY problem turning left as there was NO signs saying "NO ENTRY" nor "No Left Turn". I know that he was hungry but I would NEVER feed such hungry ghosts who accuse me doing something I did not do. Well, I am all prepared to attend to court on that specific day. Wait for me there!

I purposely went there for a new pair of specs at the usual optical outlet : A-Look (which I like to call it "Yat Look". Haha!)… As I was wearing contact lens, the optician asked us to come back after 30 minutes to give my eyes some rest before inspecting them. So, we went window shopping.

Out of nowhere, we stepped into a crystal shop and the girls were looking for some stones for themselves. By faith, I saw a yellowish stone bracelet… blurly (Remember, I was not wearing any specs). Found out that the stone is called ‘Prehnite’ or "葡萄石" in Chinese. I so liked it that I bought it. Cost me RM39.00. The ‘sifu’ said that the stone can bring calmness and helps in intellectual thinking to the owner. It suits me as I need fresh ideas and creativity at work. I think I’m attracted much to "stone-logy" now and would like to study it during my free time. Mein told me that choosing crystal needs fate. It will "call" upon you when you have fate with the stone… pretty magical!

After having my eyes checked and everything, we went for tea break while waiting for the specs ready. Went to "Sek Hou" and had some snacks & drinks. Well, basically the service there was not friendly at all. Asking them to take order was like asking them to kill themselves. So, in the future if you have a choice, why not choose else where? Hehe…

1 hour later…

At last! My specs are ready. Got them and dashed to the LG Floor to collect some CNY goodies from Berjaya Time Square. A funny thing happened. The redemption promotion was like this : Any purchase above RM118 is entitled to get a goodie box and some angpow packets. I have 2 receipts which cost more than RM118 each. The lady at the counter told me that only one goodies bag per customer. I was like, "HUH?!" Ok, I’ll get my wife to redeem another box on my behalf loh. You know what?! The lady gave me a "damn" face. I was like "Hello?! This is my right! Consumer’s right! Haha! A smart one that is!" Anyway, we were entitled for those things that YOU offered. So… don’t show me your "ugly" face in front of me!

Wanted to walk back to the car and we saw 8TV personalities doing some CNY shows on stage. Watched for a while and went home happily… but tired… and broke!!! :"(
