YB Khairy Witnessed Pledge Signing on World Asthma Day 2022 – Closing Gap in Asthma Care

Did you know that asthma affects almost 2 million children and adults with respiratory diseases being the second most common cause of death within the Ministry of Health hospitals in Malaysia?

On 19th May  2022, Asthma Malaysia organised a half-day conference at the Connexion Conference and Event Centre, Kuala Lumpur, aimed to discuss the challenges and solutions in addressing the gaps in asthma care in Malaysia in line with the World Asthma Day theme this year – Closing Gaps in Asthma Care.

The conference was officiated by the Minister of Health, YB Khairy Jamaluddin and is held in collaboration with the Malaysian Thoracic Society (MTS), Malaysian Family Medicine Specialists’ Association (FMSA), Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), Malaysia Pharmacists Society (MPS), AstraZeneca Malaysia and NVS – Novartis Malaysia.

A series of talks and dialogue led by medical experts and patient representative were held to share and explore the potentials of making asthma a key non-communicable disease (NCD) priority area in Malaysia.

At the end of the conference, YB Khairy witnessed the pledge signing by multi-stakeholders who aspire to improve asthma care in Malaysia. YB Khairy also officiated the relaunch of Asthma Malaysia website, a one-stop information hub for the general public on asthma.

Singing Bowl Therapy Relaxes the Body and Soul – Now in Pavilion KL

Singing bowl therapy, a kind of sound therapy is well-known for its powerful healing and relaxation effects. Each vibration realigns our body functions back to its optimum level. It is somehow a kind of meditation too, where our mind becomes clearer, relaxed and mindful after each session.

I am glad that I had a treatment session with Michelle from @bmicnailspasalon, located in the Beauty Hall, Level 7, #PavilionKL. Michelle is a certified singing bowl therapist.

The 1-hour plus session has given me an opportunity to feel completely relaxed. As I have been working long hours sitting, I do have some discomfort at my upper and lower back. After the treatment, I can feel that the muscle tension loosen and becomes less tight.

Michelle is really professional at her work as she tries to find out what kind of problem I had before starting the treatment so that she knows where to put more focus on.

So if you’re facing issues like lack of sleep/rest, tight muscles, indigestion, or other issues, I would suggest to inform Michelle first so that she knows where to focus on during the treatment.

After my treatment, I did feel very thirsty and urge to go to the toilet as I needed to flush out toxins from my body system. Isn’t that amazing how singing bowl therapy works?

bmic Nail Spa Salon is also a place for manicure-pedicure services for ladies and men who groom. I am looking forward to my next appointment here with Michelle soon. I am going to try their mani-pedi service. And that would be my first ever 😉

For more info, check out @bmicnailspasalon and PM them for an appointment.

International Biodiversity Day at Gamuda Cove

My wife and I went to International Biodiversity Day Event at @gamudacove this morning and we had much fun there. We took loads of #ootd shots at the beautiful floral tunnel and bamboo structure.

There were also Orang Asli performances, music performances, environmental-themed booths and workshops there. This is definitely an exciting and educative event, great for the whole family. Oh, we took the Aerobar too (a free ride upon registration) to have a panoramic view of the whole Gamuda Cove up in the air. Isn’t that amazing?

Do bring your family to Gamuda Cove from 21 to 22 May 2022 (11AM-6PM) and join in the fun!

Turkish Cuisine Week at Shangri-la Hotel KL

I have always wanted to visit Turkey, but well, it’s still a dream for me now. However, it’s not a dream to enjoy authentic and delightful Turkish cuisine now right here in Kuala Lumpur!

Turkish Cuisine has always been an important element in Turkish culture for its legendary flavours and creative presentations. Hence, Turkish Cuisine Week has been declared from 21 May to 27 May to appreciate the deep-rooted culinary tradition of Turkiye.

I am very honoured to be invited to attend the Gala Dinner to launch Turkish Cuisine Week, organised by the Turkish Embassy Tourism & Information Office in Kuala Lumpur and hosted by H.E Ambassador Dr Merve Safa Kavakci, Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia held at Shangri-la Hotel on 17th May 2022. The Gala Dinner was attended by Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, government officials, local chefs, invited guests, media and influencers.

I got the opportunity to try various types of Turkish cuisine that evening – for example – Doner & Ekmek, Tandir (Lamb leg confit) on Ic pilav (rice with lamb liver and sultanas), Hunkar begendi (slow cooked veal on hot eggplant rague), Kuzu sis (lamb skewer), Tavuk sis (chicken skewer), Kadinbudu kofte (fried minced lamb & rice), Eksili kofte (minced lamb balls stew) and Izmir kofte (minced beef stew with potato). Not forgetting their delicious desserts like Sekerpare (pistachio cookies with syrup), Firin Sutlac (oven baked rice & milk pudding), Cevizli kabak (pumpkin confit with walnut), Irmik Helvasi (Semolina Halwa) and many more!

There was live music throughout the dinner time and a Turkish coffee demonstration too. As a coffee-lover myself, this was really an amazing experience for me to witness this myself. And guess who’s lucky that night? I won a beautiful Turkish ceramic vase by Blue Eyes Gift Shop in the lucky draw! Yayyy!!!

For those who wish to indulge in Turkish Cuisine, you can visit the Lemon Garden, Shangri-la Hotel from 21 May to 27 May and the buffet is priced at RM168 nett (Tuesday – Thursday) and RM188 nett (Friday – Sunday & Public Holiday) for lunch; RM188 nett (Tuesday – Thursday) for dinner and RM248 nett (Friday – Sunday) for the premium dinner where guests can also array of seafood and local Malaysian cuisine.

For more information on Turkish Cuisine Week, visit turkishcuisineweek.com and reservations can be made at restaurantreservations.slkl@shangri-la.com or +6019-390 2257.
