Food & Drink

Food @ Gasoline

Tried food & drinks in Gasoline on the 6th Floor of Sg Wang after months listening to a suggestion of a friend. Well, looking at the menu itself, they have a lot of choices and they are all rather fresh ideas of food unlike Kim Gary to Food & Tea. The variety of food & drinks here are really wide and refreshing. I had chicken chop and ice-blended rum & raisins mocha. Taste good and I liked the drink! The price was rather reasonable & affordable for young adults like me – who are not earning as much… Mein had chicken pie on mushroom soup & a cup of hot chocolate. Not new enough for me but still taste good. Share some photos of the food we ordered.

Home-made Fruit Wine

Got to know from a colleague of Mein this way to produce wine. Simple & easy.

1. Prepare grapes, lemon & blocked brown sugar and also a jar which can be closed air-tight.
2. Cut the items into small pieces.
3. Put a layer of grapes in the jar.
4. Followed by a layer of slices of lemons.
5. Followed by a layer of cut blocked brown sugar.
6. Repeat Step 3-5 until the jar is full.
7. Close the jar air-tight and leave it for 20 days.
8. After 20 days, pour the liquid out into a cup & drink.

According to Mein’s colleague, this wine is good for health as it contains fruit enzyme & vitamins. Please also note that grapes and be subsituted with any other fruits like apple, pear, cucumber, or even mango! They will give you different taste. Pictures will be uploaded soon…

Here are the photos as promised

Generation Gap

CNY is going to end. 15 days… a short yet long period. According to Chinese customs, visiting friends & relatives is a regular practice. Bringing a bag of food and fruits (mandarin oranges to be precise) is not a rear thing to do.

During the first day itself, my family & I paid a visit to a relative and found out an old-fashion telephone in the house, which is actually working and I am sure this kind of phone is no longer in the production anymore. It’s actually an “antique” as I wish to call it.

Why so? Well, for those who were born in the 80’s, I think they might still have the chance to see and use this kind of phones, as I did during my younger years… (ok, when I was a kid!) I still remember the way to call someone is to dial each and every number by making circles from the starting point of the number to the end of the circle and back.

My young cousin saw the phone and asked, “What is this?”

“A telephone!”, I answered.

He was curious as he has not seen it before until that day. I told him this phone was just an ordinary phone like what we are using currently which the numbers are pressed or pushed by fingers. My cousin laughed. I quickly grabbed my camera and took a photo of the phone & my cousin. I have a name for the picture. I call it “Generation Gap”

In my mind, questions popped out. If this kind of phones can be substituted by the ones that we are using now, what kind of phones that we will be using in the future? Hmm… Any idea?

What a start for 2007!?

Since 2007 started, Mein & I have been facing 3 problems already.  Just wondering if this is a good year or not. Furthermore the Lunar year will be here tomorrow!

Let’s list down the problems we’ve faced so far…

1) Punctured tyre
Happened when I went to fetch Mein in Subang Holiday Villa from her annual dinner of her company. Had to change the tyre in the middle of the night. You can read further in my previous blog.

2) Mein’s handbag got snatched and hurt her head
Happened when Mein was walking to KLCC after our lunch on a Saturday afternoon (3 Feb 2007). The snatch thief was on his motorcycle and pull her handbag & a paper bag. She fell down on the road and had her head injured. Bleeding. I had to take EL in the middle of my work to send her to the hospital & the police station. I was so worried about her as the blood was flowing from her head to the neck and chest. The scene is still haunting me and scares me everytime I think back about that day. The "call" that she made to let me know that she was hurt and her bag got snatch is still fresh in my mind… What’s happened to Malaysians?!

3) Fake bus ticket purchase
Just yesterday, Mein prepared to go back to Penang. We went to Puduraya for the bus. Her tickets was for 11:00PM. But I waited with her until 11:30PM and I had to leave as the last LRT train service was about to end soon. I left her unattended in Puduraya alone waiting for the bus. I went home to refresh myself after working direct 6 days non-stop. I was tired and fell asleep. At about 3:00AM, Mein called and informed that the bus has not arrived yet and the tickets are actually fake ones! There are a whole big group of victims waiting in the bus station. There’s a couple with a new born baby waited from the night until the midnight! The scene is very saddening. I straight drove to Puduraya to join Mein. There are two men lodged report to LPKP/DBKL about this incident. Mein took down one of the contact number of the men. We went home and I napped as I was really tired and I need to work the next morning. Sent Mein back to Puduraya as the man told her that they managed to work out something with the LPKP/DBKL. Soon after I reached office, Mein told me that she got her payment of the ticket returned and she will buy another tickets back home. I am sure that the whole group of victims are really tired and exhausted as they did not really sleep the whole night, waiting for a miracle to come. What’s happened to Malaysians?!

This is the truth of what’s happened to Mein & I since the starting of 2007. More to come? I’m not sure. But what I’m hoping for is a smoother way to go through 2007.
