Launching of BestFoodJunction.com

Mein and I attended the launching of BFJ.com. After driving to Royale Bintang Hotel in Damansara, The Curve on 25 June 2009, we head to the Tiara Rini Ballroom to register. After that, we were given a goodies bag each. Basically, BFJ.com is a website where you can find all about food and restaurants, mostly around Klang Valley and Selangor. There were already a large group of crowd, wandering around, eating and munching away… Haha! Food sampling mah… What more? Mein and I started our ‘adventure’ as well, hunting for some good food to eat. Though not served in big portion, there number of types of food is enough to fill us up!

There were a few stalls opened in the launching ceremony, giving out free food samplings and one on coffee demonstration. Spaghetti, Yaki-yaki charcoal BBQ sticks, cakes and pastries from Zen, New Zealand Natural’s ice cream and etc… There’s also music performance by a band… Digging into our goodies bag, the thing I liked the most are the magazines and also a wristband watch. But mine is spoilt at the button. *sad* :"(

Website Review : Waahhh.com

Everything everyone wants! Basically this is how I describe this portal. It is a point where you can find generally everything of all topics, like travel, food, jokes, gadgets, automobiles, shopping and many more.

I find this portal more versatile in their travel section. Most likely because you can find a lot of wonders here. First of all, you can search for travel packages here. Then, you can also get the latest foreign exchange rate and weather here.

For frequent travelers, you don’t have to visit each individual airline website now to book your tickets. What you can do is just click to this portal and purchase them here! Well, to my surprise, they are linked to 5 different airlines – Air Asia, MAS, Firefly, Jet Star and Tiger Airways.

Besides that, this portal also gathers informative details of food! I mean, who doesn’t like to eat? Whenever you thought of food, this site may be an alternative for suggestions of food.

Also find out the latest information on electronic gadgets and automobiles. Be the first few to know up-to-date trendsetters in the technology and cars industry.

There are more that you can get from this site. I know that they are still fresh and working very hard to provide more interest services to Web 2.0 users like us. I’m sure improvements are on the way. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

In a nutshell, I think this site has its essence and idea with spacious of rooms for improvement.

Jacob’s Walk of Life 2009 – Havoc!

We went to the Jacob’s Walk of Life and it’s our first time participating after their third time organizing this event last Sunday morning (21 June 09) which coincide with Fathers’ Day. It’s in Taman Metropolitan, Kepong (somewhere near Baru Caves)… There were a lot of people there joining this event. (Reported 5,000 people worr…)

Image015 The starting point…

There are too many things that the organiser must take note. Since this is NOT their first time organizing such event, it was a total mess since the beginning.

1) Parking – we were not allowed to park at the parking lots in the park. We had to park outside along the highway, which was so dangerous for people to walk from their cars to the event venue. No proper signage indicating where else we can park.

2) On-the-spot Registration – We wanted to register online earlier but the registration was closed very much earlier and the organiser asked us to register on-the-spot, which I thought should be ok. However, the large crowd which turned up wholly "attacked" the registration counter and the organizer did not manage to handle such big crowd in a proper manner. No one was queuing up although being told to which ended up having some of the crew screaming madly at the crowd asking them to queue.

3) Distribution of drinks – There were no distribution of drinks before the end of the event. Although they have a mineral water sponsor but they only sponsored one bottle for each participant which was only given out by the very end of the walk.

4) Distribution of freebies/ goodie bags – We had to "queue up" again to get our goodie bags. Eventually, everyone was not queuing up but pushing and jostling each other to make it to the front line to get the bags. This again had provoked the crew and made them scream again. It was such a bad mess.

Tips to the crew/ organiser : If you want to organise such event next time, you may want to refer to how MAKNA/Tesco did last year for their walk. Everything was well-handled and no one was screaming.

Aside from all those havoc, we did enjoyed ourselves walking in the park and taking photos with the mascots of Jacob’s. (My favourites were the biscuit tins! Cute!!!) We also saw Fara Fauzana & Faizal Ismail (Hot FM) and Gan Mei Yan & Jack Lim (MYFM) who were "duta" (spokeperson) of Jacob’s Walk of Life.

A Special Father’s Day in Green Box

On Father’s Day night (21 June 2009), we went to Green Box, Cheras Selatan to sing k. Our main purpose there was not to celebrate Father’s Day but just for the sake of singing. However, when we were there, they said that father sings for FREE!!! So nice! So we only need to pay for the price of 5 pax. (We have 6 person in total). Fathers also get a free black chicken herbal soup in coconut.

We sang til we dropped on that day. We dug a lot of English oldies specially for pa to sing and don’t forget latest hits for ourselves. Haha!

Around 11pm, there was a game organised at the front entrance of Green Box. Pa and I joined the game. The first round required us (the children) to be blindfolded and to guess who is their own father by touching the hands. Another 2 pairs of a boy and a girl as well as myself got into the finals. In the final round, we were asked to write out the answers for some questions related to our own father. All the three pairs got our answers correct. So, everyone gets prizes!!!

We had a fun time there… singing from 6.30pm to 1am!!! Wow! Very tired the day after… 😦
